Andy Babb & Lara Elle Music
Andy and Lara are singer songwriters, best friends, lovers and explorers. Their music is an extension of that love, played in a classic, yet modern, heartfelt acoustic folk style. Hailing from Denver, Colorado their musical scent is one of wild flowers, fresh mountain air and sunshine. Join them for an acoustic experience like no other at a venue near you, sure to thaw even the coldest of hearts. You can also catch them as the lead singers of their fun, funky, original rock act "Andy Babb and the Big Beautiful Band."
Andy Babb and Lara Elle are an acoustic folk duo from the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Their mellow, healing vibrations and positive lyrics are coupled with tasteful acoustic instrumentation and vocal harmonies. Audience members have remarked on how much better they feel after attending their shows, saying its “like church, without all the dogma” and “singing these songs with you is like singing mantras in prayer”.
As a couple for over 6 years Andy and Lara have learned to successfully blend their love for one another into their love of music. Their voices intertwine like the fingers on their hands and their songwriting easily flows like their river of love. Their newest collaboration, Dearheart, takes a classic folk music direction, focusing on more subtle and tasteful minimized instrumentation to allow space for the lyrical message and vocal harmonies to shine through.
For their new album, Dearheart, the couple traveled abroad to Vintage Studios in Bangkok, Thailand. Andy had planned the trip to Thailand to propose marriage to Lara during the Yi Peng lantern festival and decided to take advantage of the low cost, high quality, professional recording opportunities in Bangkok. The results were as good as he hoped with Lara agreeing to marry him as well as coming home with an excellent sounding record.
Andy and Lara met while dancing at Rhythm Sanctuary in Denver, an ecstatic dance community or “church of dance” in February of 2014. Andy was, at the time writing songs, singing and playing guitar with his group Andy Babb and the Big Beautiful Band, as well as playing bass and singing with The Copper Children. As the two fell more deeply in love, Lara soon learned all of the Big Beautiful Band songs and obliged when asked to join the band around 6 months in. Her background as a singer and actress in musical theater and choir in San Diego and Cherry Creek made her a perfect fit for the fun, funky vibes of the BBB.
The couple released their new album worldwide on December 11, exactly one year after finishing the album in South East Asia. They celebrated with a performance at the Lost Lake Lounge in Denver, CO. The songs are a mixture of old (“Seems to Me”) and new (“Live like a Child”) from Andy’s songwriting repertoire, as well as songs recently brought to life from Lara’s (“So Much” and “You are Love”). The couple feels that the styles blend nicely and will leave you with a calm, healthy, and loving feeling. They genuinely hope that the music will help you as much as its helped them.
